Dark bunnies and ideas go here!
7th-Aug-2006 10:43 am

Hey there! If you were inspired by liz_marcs Dark Xander ficathon and have ideas to share, or maybe requests about the kind of fic you'd like to see, comment here to talk about that.

All the comments will be gathered up and organized into a special post each week, for authors to take a look at and maybe get some inspiration. If we get enough of them, we might even stage a few mini-challenges in preparation for the main event.

(don't worry, dark bunnies that are pitched in our regular requests thread are good too *g*)

It's a sort of fanom that Xander's attitude towards vampires stems in great part from having killed Vamp!Jesse.

So, how would things go if Buffy had killed Vamp!Jesse before Xander had a chance to speak to him?

I don't know if this has been used in a fic before, but what about the after effects of Xander's encounter with Willow on Kingman's Bluff? He was hit with "dark magics" at least twice (that I can remember). What if there was an after effect from this? Maybe it changes his psyche, or changes him physically (black veins, etc). Would he be able to perform magic? If so, any magic or just dark magic?

If the effect was immediate, it could mean an AU season 7, or just the summer between seasons 6 & 7.

If there was a delayed effect - maybe the Hellmouth absorbed the dark energy from Xander before it could affect him--then what would happen to Xander after closing the Hellmouth? Maybe there's enough residual energy that whatever happens, happens on the road to LA or Cleavland, or wherever they went.

I think there's a lot of potential for a Dark!Xander here.

Okay, here's one inspired by an episode of M*A*S*H, of all things.

Somewhere in Africa, the vehicle that Xander and a Slayer have been traveling in has had an accident while on their way back to somewhere (a base camp, a city, your call). The vehicle is damaged; the Slayer is unhurt, but Xander is seriously injured. Definitely a concussion, probably a broken leg. The Slayer can't carry him in his condition, so she runs the last few miles so she can bring back help.

Xander starts talking out loud to himself to keep from losing consciousness, since that would be a bad thing with the concussion. Things go relatively well...until dead people start talking back to him. Aha! I hear you say. The First, right? Well, maybe, maybe not. It could be the First...or it could be that concussed Xander is starting to hallucinate. Either way, this is not a good situation. To make it even more interesting, the dead folks that Xander is seeing and talking to aren't the usual suspects that you'd expect in a maybe-the-First-is-haunting-Xander story. In other words, it's not Jesse, Cordelia, or Anya. There's a wealth of other dead characters that Xander once knew, met, or was acquainted with. Maybe DeadGayLarry pays a visit. Maybe Principal Flutie shows up. It could be Jenny Calendar, or Tara, or the human face of Ms. French. Or Kendra. Or the Mayor. Or the zookeeper from The Pack. Or Caleb. Or...you get the idea. No characters from either show that Xander never met (like Doyle or Maggie Walsh), no vampires that haven't seen definitely die (leaves out Angel, Spike, Drusilla, and Harmony). And, your decision whether the dead folks that may or may not be the First are hectoring him about his failings, his shortcomings, etc., or if some of them (like Tara or Joyce, for instance) are more friendly to him.

Either way (The First Evil or hallucinations), Xander's in a bad situation, right?
